I am gonna have the new poll up in the next few minutes and I am gonna include two songs from the most recent poll “Under The Bridge” and “Don’t Stop Believin’” since they both tied for second place.

I want to thank everyone that sent in requests for songs that we should do for the site. I got some good suggestions but please keep them coming. Since new song lessons are coming every week there will also be a new poll every week to determine the winner so please let me know what you want to see.

The area I need the most requests for is the regular guitar lessons that are updated every few days. I wanted to add this song not only because it performed well in the last song lesson poll, but because it is also a fantastic guitar fingerpicking study. I feel this beautiful song can be of great benefit to guitar players of all styles.

The fingerpicking style used throughout “Dust In The Wind” is called Travis Picking. It is used by many fingerstyle guitar players such as Chet Atkins and Lindsay Buckingham. Travis picking uses a consistent driving rhythm powered by the thumb to produce the harmonic foundation of the music. As soon as you get the hang of it I think it is something you will use constantly in your guitar playing.

Besides all the beautiful fingerpicking stuff, I have also arranges the viola/violin solo section for guitar as well.

The current song lesson poll is a neck and neck battle between “Beat It” by Michael Jackson, “Under The Bridge” by the Red Hot Chili Peppers and “Dont Stop Believin’” by Journey. I am gonna let the poll continue to run for about one more day to see how all of the voting pans out. Make sure you get your vote in for the next song lesson before I close the poll. I am gonna try and have the next song lesson up on the site by the end of the week.

Also, the past couple of weeks have been REALLY short on requests so please them coming. I read every single one of them and need all the ideas I can get.

This is a great song that has something in it for virtually every level of player. The rhythm guitar parts are accessible to everyone but the earliest beginner and the solo can present a great challenge to more experienced players.

I’m sorry it took a little longer for this one, my audio interface has been giving me a fit the past week and preventing me from filming at my usual pace. But, hopefully that is all cleared up now.

I hope you guys enjoy learning this classic Metallica song. James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett combine to create one of the greatest metal songs of all time with “Enter Sandman”. It has become one of those classic songs that everyone needs to know because you will constantly be asked to play it.

In addition to doing “Enter Sandman” I am also gonna add “Dust In The Wind” by Kansas to the Song Lessons page since I think a nice acoustic fingerpicking song would be great for the site. PLUS, I am gonna arrange the violin section solo for guitar as well!! WooHoo!!
