Welcome to the first lesson in the Jazz Guitar University lesson series. This project will be a long one that I hope will eventually enable you to feel like a real jazz guitarist. I am going to try to start frorm the ground up, but before you attempt this course please make sure that you are familiar with all of the prerequisite lessons.
The most essential element to learning jazz is too make sure that you are actually listening to jazz music on a regular basis. The concepts found in this course should be useful to all guitarists and if you have no desire to actually play jazz guitar but would love the theory knowledge that is fine. But if you truly want to be able to sound like and think like a jazz guitarist there is no substitute to actually listening to the music.
I feel absolutely honored to be able to offer this information to so many people. My goal for this course is not to offer you snippets of how to sound like a jazz guitarist so you can impress your friends and family, but to truly establish yourself as a REAL jazz guitar player.
This venture is obviously gonna take a lot of work on your part and my part, but I hope that you will meet me half way on this and over the course of the next few months and years you will follow the materials offered in this course in a positive and serious way.
I will constantly be adding more material to this lesson series because the art of jazz music is a bottomless ocean of sound that I think you will find great pleasure in discovering.
Also, please take the time to read the introduction to this course, then download the PDF material to all of the lessons before watching the videos. That way you will be sure to get the most out of all of the material.
Please don’t hesitate to visit the forum and ask me any questions about the course you may have. Make sure you place the questions in the jazz guitar lesson section though.
I hope that this lesson will be the beginning of the long and incredible journey of learning jazz guitar and I once again want to thank you for trusting me to show you the ropes.
One more thing, make sure you download the backing tracks as well, so you can have something to practice to. Remember, jazz is an improvisational art, and to master it, you need to practice improvisation.
