An all new video guitar song lesson series for the latest poll winner “Sultans Of Swing” has just been posted on the Song Lessons page.

This song has so many so cool guitar licks in it you won’t know what to do with yourself. Every single line of every single verse has a new lead guitar lick in it. It is truly a masterpiece of classic rock guitar.

This song is also a great introduction and study on the guitar style of Mark Knopfler.

Check out the full performance below and make sure you check out all of the note-for-note video lessons on the Song Lessons page. There are 6 note-for-note video lessons in all to work through, but it will be well worth the practice, trust me. :D

Dear Carl,
Absolutely brilliant execution note for note…with your fingers and thumb !!! you perform like you are recording in one take !!!….beautiful articulaton… this is one I’ve always wanted to learn… thankyou for providing us with the opportunity to learn this classic guitar anthem …
It looks like you are using your middle pickup mainly is that an Alnico 5 ? I always thought this one would be a neck pick up piece , or do you have extra tonal variation available on your EJ ?
Very cool jewel !!!

Hey Tweedguitar, I am not sure what is going on with the middle pickup on my EJ strat, I like the sound of it though and I thought it worked best for playing this song. Yes, I can get quite a bit of tonal variation with the EJ pickups. However, I am kinda going back and forth between keeping the original single coils in it or going back to the humbuckers I had in it before. The reason is that I am joining a jazz trio and I need that nice jazz warmth with the neck pickup but or course I would like to use my EJ strat. :D hmmm..

Carl..
