Classical Style Fingerpicking For All Guitarists Pt.1

In this free video guitar lesson we will learn some cool classical style fingerpicking techniques that can be applied to virtually all styles of music.

The music example that I am teaching during this free video guitar lesson is a segment of a piece of music by Mauro Guiliani called "Grand Overture". Mauro Guiliani is an Italian born classical guitarist who virtually invented how the classical guitar was played and practiced in the early 1700's.

This kind of fingerpicking study can help every player develop a more fluent fingerpicking technique no matter what style of music they play.

The patterns shown in this free video guitar lesson also make a great workout for travis picking. Travis picking is a popular fingerpicking style used by many famous guitarists including Lindsey Buckingham, Chet Atkins, Kansas and of course it's namesake Merle Travis.

Whatever style of music you want to use with fingerpicking, I feel these patterns will make a great addition to your practice routine.

Don't forget to download the TAB PDF for this lesson since its shows in detail  not only the correct notes, but also all of the fingerings for the fingerpicking.

The creator of this post, Carl Brown, leads you through a passage pulled from Giuliani’s Grand Overture. He plays through it quickly on his electric guitar, and then he goes through it at a slower pace to help you understand the challenges and ins and outs of this passage. […]

Can we requested a song to learn if we become subscriber?

    • Levine Sinclair on July 21, 2016 at 10:03 am

      Request*

    • Carl Brown on July 24, 2016 at 3:30 pm

Hey Levine, you can request but there is never any guarantee that I will transcribe a specific song due to a request from a Premium subscriber. It just wouldn’t be possible.

I hope you understand. The Premium subscription is more geared to my guitar courses than songs, so that is what you are paying for as a Premium member. 🙂
